ROUND ROBIN STANDINGS / COMPETITION POINTS

Standing for those grades that are having semi-finals this week have been determined on competition points. Please note that for grades where multiple teams are on equal competition points at the end of their round robin, standings are determined based on the below.

- Who won when those teams played each other

- If equal win/loss we then go on points for and against when those teams played each other

- If still tied, points for and against for the overall competition

It is important to note that SportsTG Ladders only list based on competition points and then overall for/against points. It does not rank based on the above when teams are on equal competition points.

UPDATE: We still have spaces available for Southland Shooters - Years 5 & 6

SBA are really grateful to have been given the opportunity to pre-purchase (prior to public release on 16 July) 60 tickets for Southland players to attend the Steven Adams Camp in Dunedin on Wednesday 22 August.

These tickets are available for players aged 8-17 who are affiliated to SBA i.e. have played in an SBA competition over the past 12 months, with a limit of three per family.

Should these tickets sell out quickly prior to 16 July we may be able to source more so a waiting list will be kept.

Tickets can be secured either by phoning the SBA office 03 211 2254 (and internet banking) or by calling into the office at ILT Stadium Southland with payment (cash or cheque only). Payment must be made within two days of purchase.

What a fantastic opportunity to meet the NZ NBA legend and learn some great skills at the same time!

Beginner referees will be supported in an encouraging, protected manner and will have the opportunity to develop their skills and move through the refereeing levels as set by the SBA and BBNZ

SBA are getting wheelchair basketball rolling in 2018 with a short six week social competition. Wheelchair basketball is a sport that everyone can play - no experience necessary...this league is a fun and social way to get the sport back rolling in the region.

Dates: Mondays - 26 March; 9, 16, 23 & 30 April; 7 May

Venue: ILT Stadium Southland

Cost: $280 team registration fee

There are only six teams in this competition and we already have three pre-registered.

Our friends at Auckland University of Technology and Drug Free Sport New Zealand are capturing the thoughts of 13-18-year-old athletes throughout NZ on supplement use and doping in sport. The findings will be used to make sport better for everyone by developing a programme, which prevents doping in sport for the next generation of NZ athletes. It is really important that we hear the thoughts of as many NZ basketball athletes as possible! All data obtained through this questionnaire will be anonymous but will make a real contribution to our understanding of what shapes the intentions of our youth to use banned substances. In the past few years we have struggled to get enough players to field an Under 19 Girls’ team. If this is going to be the case this year we are intending to join forces with Otago to create the opportunity for girls to attend the Under 19 tournament.

Our preference is to have our own team so it is very important that if players intend to trial for this team they attend the first trial on February 1. If numbers are limited we will look to take the next step to form a “Southern “ team.

Age Groups

All trialists must be under the age of the age group they are trialing for as of the end of December 2018. For example, if you are turning 17 or 18 in 2018 you will be eligible for the Under 19 age group.

Please arrive before the trial time to register with Diane, or email her your name, DOB and phone number prior to the trial.

Congratulations to the below players on their selection for the 2017 Rep Miniball Tournament being held this Friday, 1 December at ILT Stadium Southland.

DRAW

The first round of games starts at 8:50 am and the last round is at 1:30 pm. Click on the link below for a copy of the draw.

You will need to be at the stadium half an hour prior to your first game to meet your coach and get your top (which you will need to hand back at the end of the day).

The rest of your uniform will be your own black or dark blue shorts, sports shoes and don't forget your mouthguards!

You will need to supply your own food/snacks and have a large water bottle. The café at the stadium will have food and drink for purchase.

COST

The cost for the day is $5 and must be paid to your coach before you play.
